... of course, I follow it up with Savage Garden's version of "Last Christmas", which is certain to make 90% of my friends list cry. :D
Actually, I adore Christmas music. Well, church hymns. Most of the santa-stuff drives me up a wall within a very short amount of time, but I love (and know all the words/verses to) many, many church songs. Again, not the newer Christian-pop that's appearing in a lot of churches my mom drags me to, which is (I guess) trying to reach out to a younger audience. Those songs, frankly, suck. Not only do most have lousy lyrics, but no one can agree on any particular speed, rhythm, or tune for each song - each time you hear a song by a different praise group, you have to re-learn it, and this means that NO two people in the congregation are ever singing the same thing, resulting in this painful mish-mash of noise. Could be worse, though - my family once attended a church where there was no instrumental music. The whole place sang without so much as the strum of a guitar or a single keyboard note to guide them, and it sounded like more crap than I can properly express. I'm not even sure I count as Christian anymore, and I know the bible doesn't specifically request "pretty" noise, merely "joyful", but geez.
And here you people probably thought I'd burst into flames upon entering a church.
...well, I do. I just have flame-retardant pants.
