We slept through the worst part of the storm that resulted in lots of leaves everywhere, one large branch leaning against the side of the house by my dad's study (not through his big plate-glass doors, no, but leaning against the nice, sturdy roof), and a pleasant wind that makes being outside quite enjoyable. We didn't even lose power, save for a momentary flicker last night before the storm even hit.
We've got ridiculous amounts of canned food, some of which will probably wind up being donated to actual victims of this hurricane.
The stuff might still prove useful - Houston is still devoid of water, gas, and most supplies, and is kind of a ghost town right now (it's really creepy and awesome when no one's outside).
See where we are in terms of red? It's not even raining outside.
But jeezus, Rita, did you have to smack New Orleans? Sheesh.
