  • Mood:
Found a job listing that might well prove ideal. Will be sending my resume and whatnot on the 2nd (as I kind of have to put it together and make it shiny-awesome first). Here's hoping.

Oh, yes, there's also an end-of-year survey. 2007 was a year in which I was very, very dull.
1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Graduated from college. Was accepted to grad school. I think that's it...

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't remember what mine were. Probably something about losing weight (which I did, though not as much as I would have liked). I will doubtless make the same ones in 2008. I can't remember a time when I DIDN'T make a resolution to lose weight...

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
A few people on my friendslist are now pregnant, but I cannot specifically recall anyone in my immediate vicinity giving birth.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.

5. What countries did you visit?
Continued my grand tradition of not leaving the USA. Go, me. I really ought to break that habit. Someday I'ma move to Montreal*.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Less fat. Less anxiety. More direction.

7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory?
New Year's. Other than that, nothing much.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Graduating, I suppose.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not losing as much weight as I could have? My life, eet ees seemple.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Uh, my uterus has been hating me for going on five weeks now, if that counts. It does this from time to time. Oh, and in October at some point I think I had a ruptured cyst, which was the most pain I have ever experienced. And I got properly sick had a really high fever at some point this year as well, I think, though I don't remember when.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Emma's rainbow tie-dye pants Umm. I have no idea.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Nothing stands out, in my mind.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Gabe's, sometimes. But that's kind of a given.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Groceries, school... I mooch off my parents, so I didn't really have any of 'my' money going anywhere. :(

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I can't think of anything.

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Rilo Kiley, "Silver Lining" is the only one that springs to mind. There are probably others, but they tend to bleed into last year and possibly into next, so.

17. Compared to this time last year, you are:
Happier or sadder: Sadder.
Thinner or fatter: Marginally thinner. Can't tell, though.
Richer of poorer: Well, someone sent me $100 for graduation, so, richer. I win!

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Exercising... studying, possibly. Maybe attempting to apply to different schools. I don't know.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Wasting time online. Sleeping.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent it at home. It was delightful.

21. What was your favorite month of 2007?
I have no idea. January, maybe.

22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
No.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Scrubs. Also loving The Office (US version) these days.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

26. What was the best book you read?
I actually read some non-school books this year... go me. World War Z was pretty good.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I didn't do a lot of discovering, really.

28. What did you want and get?
Diploma. Well, in theory. I don't physically have it. I should probably look into that.

29. What did you want and not get?
There wasn't a lot of wanting, really.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I think the only film I saw in theaters was Ratatouille.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 23. I didn't do anything for it, though a few days later we had a family dinner. My mom insists on them for celebrations, since I abhor parties.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I have no idea, really.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
"Cover that shit up, no one wants to see it." Same as always.

34. What kept you sane?
Sane? LOL JK. Augh, sorry. Um. The internets? I guess? Having classes I actually enjoyed for the first time in my college career?

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Gonna have to go with Jim and Pam (John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer, respectively) from "The Office". They are both adorable and I wuv them. Also Nathan Fillion, as always.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I barely noticed politics this year, really.

37. Who did you miss?
The only one who springs to mind is Jonathan. We don't really talk much anymore. With everyone else I maintained pretty much the same level of communication as normal.

38. Who were the best new people you met?
The people in the Creative Writing minor at St. Thomas are pretty awesome.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
Don't bother.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Oh boy, here we go. Please excuse me while I emo it up a bit.
A Fine Frenzy - "Ashes and Wine"
Don't know what to do anymore
I've lost the only love worth fighting for
I'll drown in my tear storming sea,
That would show you, that would make you hurt like me

All the same
I don't want mudslinging games
It's such a shame
To let you walk away

Is there a chance?
A fragment of light at the end of the tunnel?
A reason to fight?
Is there a chance you may change your mind?
Or are we ashes and wine?

Don't know if our fate's already sealed
This day's spinning surface on a wheel
I'm ill with the thought of your kiss
Coffee laced intoxicating on her lips

Shut it out
I've got no claim on you now
Not allowed to wear your freedom down

Is there a chance?
A fragment of light at the end of the tunnel?
A reason to fight?
Is there a chance you may change your mind?
Or are we ashes and wine?

I'll tear myself away
That is what you need
There is nothing left to say
But

Is there a chance?
A fragment of light at the end of the tunnel?
A reason to fight?
Is there a chance you may change your mind?
Or are we ashes and wine?

Also, John Mayer - "Dreaming With A Broken Heart"

When you're dreaming with a broken heart
The waking up is the hardest part
You roll outta bed and down on your knees
And for the moment you can hardly breathe
Wondering was she really here?
Is she standing in my room?
No she's not
'Cause she's gone, gone, gone, gone, gone....

*There are two responses to this:
Nicole: "Canada sounds great in theory... but in reality, it is SO FUCKING COLD."
Alex: "The dangers of Montreal are the cold, and the French."
